Bollywood Nights

04 April 2011

Mommy & daddy got to play "dress up" this weekend. We attended a charity benefit on Saturday night at the prestigious California Club in downtown LA. The theme for this year was "Bollywood Nights." It was a black tie affair but because of the theme, many women wore beautiful Indian saris or other traditional garb. Since I'm a bit practical (and frugal), I opted to wear a brightly colored cocktail dress instead- one that I could wear again in the future. :) After Morgan said I could go shopping for a new dress- I found this little ditty on sale at JCPenney for $38. It was marked down from $90, so I felt it was a nice bargain. I paired it with a colorful scarf, a beaded necklace, and lots of gold bangles. :)

And doesn't my hubby look so handsome? He actually relishes any opportunity to break out his tux. We don't often get dolled-up anymore, so it was a fun excuse for a "fancy- shmancy" date night, nonetheless.

Aside from the Bollywood dancers, the Indian inspired decor, food, and cocktails, we had a blast bidding on a couple of silent auction items. We ended up winning a one week stay in a 2 bedroom oceanfront condo in Virginia Beach, VA! We've always wanted to go check out East Coast beach life and Colonial Williamsburg so we're super excited. Woo-hoo!!
