After co-op today, the kids took some time to pack their shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. I let the girls shop for 10 items each to put into their shoe boxes. We did this service project last year but I think the concept of sending the box to another part of the world, to a child who may never receive a Christmas present (much less hear the name of Jesus), "set-in" just a little deeper this year. We included a picture of the girls, a scripture (John 3:16) on the back, and prayed a little prayer for the child who will ultimately receive the box. The shoe boxes also become a geography lesson for us. Through Samaritan's Purse, we are able to track where our boxes ends up. I think last year, they ended up in Paraguay.
