"High-5" Responsibilities

02 October 2009

I've been looking for a way to make a chore or responsibility chart for the girls so when Hailey sent me this idea that she found on new jobs , it was perfect timing. We shamelessly adapted it for our family. I've been implementing it all week and it's so cute to see the girls walk up to their chart to make sure they've completed their tasks. Before they come out of their room in the morning, they need to make their beds and clean up any toys or books off their bedroom floor. They've been setting the table for almost every meal and clearing their dishes afterwards by bringing them to the kitchen counter. Lastly, before heading to bath time, they have to clean up all the toys in the living room. Their "High-5" Responsibility chart was also the first thing they showed daddy when he came home from his business trip this week. As they grow older, their chores will of course change and increase so I may have to add another hand very soon. And what do they get for completing their chores every day?? A big "High-5" at the end of the day! Followed with a heartfelt "I'm proud of you" and "you're such a big girl now!" Slowly, the girls are learning to be responsible and helpful, with a cheerful heart. Thanks, Hai!
