Beach Camping {and the Creation Museum}

13 September 2012

The girls loved taking the pathway from our campsite, straight to the beach and exploring all by themselves.

Back at the campsite, enjoying the view.

Helping dad set up the tent... sort of.

It was actually nice weather.  Overcast but still warm.

A rainbow of colorful stones.

Playing soccer on the beach.

the Champions!

A little baseball, too.

 Indeed!

Time to hit the showers!

 Best buddies.

 Silly girls.

 "Give me a kiss, sister!"

Faith's favorite memory of her day... soccer on the beach.
(WOW, she looks so grown here!)

Dinner at Pelly's.

We loved the wall map of the world!

It was a short but sweet camping trip.  Our friend's, the Witte's booked 3 nights at Carlsbad State Beach and ended up having to come home a day early.  We gladly accepted the invitation to soak up one last day at the beach before summer's end.  We loved our ocean view campsite where we spotted dolphins regularly and fell asleep to the sound of crashing waves.  Aahhh...

The campground itself was fantastic!  Some of the best bathrooms and showers we've seen!  Typically, flush toilets are a luxury in most areas where we've camped. :)

We did something we've never done before while camping... we went out to dinner!  Since we were only going to be there one night, Morgan convinced me to make it easy.  I'm so glad he did!  With so many restaurant options nearby, it was nice to drive 5 mins. to a local fish market where we enjoyed some amazing calamari and clam chowder.

God certainly blessed our family time and we enjoyed every minute together!  We are so glad our friends thought of us!

Sometimes, don't you find the unexpected things always turn out the best?  What a blessing!

Before heading home, we also managed to visit the Creation & Earth History Museum out in Santee.

It was fascinating!

The Ice Age.

The complex design of the human body.

We've been wanting to go to this museum for a while now and we finally made it!  It was so much more extensive than I thought it was going to be.  The museum's purpose is to provide scriptural and scientific evidence that reinforces the biblical account of creation.

The exhibits are based on true biblical history, beginning with Creation in Genesis 1. This journey continues through the rebellion of humanity against the Creator, the worldwide flood of Noah’s time, the dispersion at Babel, the history of Israel and the Gentile nations, the redemptive work of Jesus Christ, and the consummation of God’s purposes for creation when Jesus returns.

We were there for 2.5 hours but Morgan said he could spend the whole day there!

Best of all, admission is FREE!

This is a place I can definitely see us returning to as the girls get older.  Fun stuff!
