I’d Rather Have a Proverbs 31 Woman Than a Victoria’s Secret Model

This caught my eye on the Time Warp Wife’s blog last week and I thought I’d share it as well.

Alex Eklund, a student at Baylor University, posted a status on Facebook stating, "I'd rather have a Proverbs 31 woman than a Victoria's Secret Model."  Since then, other Baylor students and their friends have reposted, made graphics, and even created a Facebook page, all because of the positive reaction it received from the people who saw it. Here are Alex's thoughts on the movement, as well as some of his goals, and what he believes the message means to so many people.

The Proverbs 31 woman is a role model for Christian women.

Some would say these characteristics are idealized and unattainable but the focus of this woman is not on her abilities, rather it’s in her relationship with God.  The Proverbs 31 woman realizes that regardless of her natural talents, acquired skills, or many accomplishments, her strength comes from God.

Who is a virtuous woman today?  Proverbs 31 tells us that it’s the woman who puts God first, in everything.  She is woman after God’s own heart.  The ideal woman of Proverbs 31 should encourage all women everywhere.  It’s true, cultures change, but this woman’s God-inspired character and virtue, still shines brightly throughout the centuries.
