The Theatre

16 April 2011

All dressed up and ready for their first show...

The cute sweaters (and purses) were a birthday gift from Grandma & Grandpa.

Daddy and his girls.

The McCallum Theatre.

Picking up our tickets at Will Call.

Daddy says, "Ladies first."

Daddy gave them each a dollar for their purses.
Here they are at intermission, buying a cookie.

Little lovelies.

A fabulous night out!

We've been looking forward to this day as family for over a month now.

Every time we passed by the theatre (which is almost everyday), the excitement grew more and more. Last night was finally the night! We took the girls to their first theatre experience. "Open Call" is an annual talent competition with various art forms including: opera, Broadway, tap, ballet, talented musicians, bands, fire-dancing, and even a ventriloquist! We chose this particular show because we thought the girls would enjoy the fact that most of the talent was from young performers. We also chose Open Call for its reasonable price. It was only $7 for a child ticket and $10 for adults. :)

It was Morgan's idea to get dressed up. I have to admit, at first, I didn't feel like getting too dressy. After all, we live in a casual, resort style community where Hawaiian shirts, shorts and flip flops are quite acceptable in just about any setting. That being said- my husband is brilliant! Yes, we were the most "dressed up" people there but we didn't care in the least. It was SO MUCH FUN to be dressed up together! Come to find out, my adorable husband certainly had his reasons for asking us to dress up. He used this opportunity and took great care in showing the girls exactly what it looks like to take a young lady out for a nice evening. He opened doors, he pulled out chairs, he stood up when we did. He complimented our beauty, he got us water, and guided us by the hand. He made us feel extra special and prized... chivalry at it's finest.

To be blessed with a husband who treats his family so beautifully, reminded me of the sacred relationship between the Bridegroom and His bride. With quiet strength and loving adoration, our eternal Bridegroom will one day return, to gently guide us home.

This night goes down as one of my top 5 favorite family memories so far.

To see a live show and experience it through the eyes of our children was something quite magical. When asked which act they liked the best, the girls answered, "All of them!" ;)
