Met our friends up at Riley’s Farm.
Daddy demonstrates what happened when you were naughty back then. We learned if a man took a ladies hand and it was “uncovered” (without a glove), he could spend 3 days in this contraption!
Picnic lunch in the shade.
Faith made a make-shift fishing pole out of a stick and some yarn.
Daddy made a hook from a wire key chain.
They ended up catching SIX fish!!
Such a highlight for the kids!
The reading of the Declaration of Independence, complete with fife and drum.
Mr. Riley himself gave a poignant and moving reading. He got choked up several times throughout the reading. So sweet. Everyone should hear the Declaration of Independence read out loud!
Surprisingly, not a large crowd.
Musket fire.
Lots of dancing.
We went to Grandma and Grandpa’s in the afternoon for a bbq with family.
Cousins!
Jennifer and her “not so little” boys.
Happy Birthday, America!
We always enjoy going up to Riley’s Farm but when we can share the day friends and enjoy a picnic lunch, fishing, and fellowship, it’s even that much better. Mr. Riley himself read the Declaration of Independence and it was truly a highlight of the day. In fact, this may become a new 4th of July tradition for our family!
We spent the rest of the afternoon at Grandma and Grandpa’s where we continued celebrating with a yummy barbeque followed by singing some patriotic songs and a Happy Birthday to America!
Faith, Family, Friends, Food, and of course, FREEDOM!!
God Bless the USA!!
