So, what did the girls and I do for two days while Morgan golfed, I mean, worked all day? No, seriously, he did work. Most of the time, he was in meetings. It’s only out of occasional envy that I even mention his work, sometimes involves golf (smile). I’m happy he got to play. In fact, he golfed on Sunday and the weather was absolutely perfect!
Anyway, the girls and I were busy being farmers and marine biologists!
ENTER: The CORN MAZE!
Daddy was so bummed he missed the corn maze but us girls were proud of ourselves for finding our way out. The girls led the way and worked together as a team.
Such FUN at Lane Farms! We saw lots of old farming equipment, rode on a hay ride, experienced our first corn maze, and saw some gigantic pumpkins. Best of all, everything was FREE (except for the organic pumpkins, of course).
The next day, the girls and I explored Stearns Wharf and the Ty Warner Sea Center.
Sting rays and sharks.
The Sunflower Star.
We learned all about Decorator Crabs.
Discovered what lies at the bottom of the ocean.
Touched Sea Cucumbers.
Faith is looking so much older here. My, she’s gorgeous.
They put on a little show for me.
We had a blast!
A cool but beautiful day on the marina.
Perfect for lunch at one of my favorite places, Brophy Bros.
A warm and savory bowl of cioppino hit the spot. SOOOO good!
Lastly, one of my favorite pictures from our trip. LOVE!
I have so many fond memories of Santa Barbara as a kid and well into my adult life. My parents never had much money but Santa Barbara was one of those places we often visited on weekends. We’d stay at the Pepper Tree Inn (which is surprisingly still there and turned into a Best Western). We’d spend hours in the pool and exploring the beaches. We’d bring our own Korean food to cook in our hotel room, then we’d take a walk around town to get an ice cream cone.
Nostalgic, beautiful, Santa Barbara… the place where I first fell in love with beach life.
How wonderful it was to see you again.
