Hanna Flat Campground sits at 7,000 ft. elevation (3 miles from Big Bear Lake). Here’s a picture of the back of our campsite. Not too shabby for a first come, first serve spot!
Although we had planned to camp for weeks, we did NOT make a reservation and decided to take our chances. We ended up getting one of the last spots on Friday afternoon.
Thank you, Lord!
The girls help set up camp…

Inside and out!
Now, we can rest.
Or, be silly!
The trees provided a great place to play hide and seek….
Found ya!
The area had a fire in 2007. This poor tree had to be cut down.
“We’re goin’ on a bear hunt…”
It’s not camping unless you have smores!
Good morning, Sunshine!
Crawling critters.
Beautiful pines…
A great little zoo with lots to see. We enjoyed it!
Canoeing on the lake… so FUN!
“Row, row, row, your boat…”
“Gently down the stream…”
Playing cards in the tent.
Nature journaling.
“F” is for Faith.
More family card games…
Enjoying their hot chocolate on a cold morning…
Grace was busy gathering her bouquet of flowers…
Up the Alpine slide.
We raced down the hill… and tied.
Although you’d never know it, Morgan is not a big fan of tent camping. My husband has done it (for me) almost ever year we’ve been married, despite his personal feelings. Now that’s love!
The girls really enjoy it and although it’s a lot of work, everything about it is good for my soul. Including how dirty you get, cooking and eating outdoors, sleeping in a tent, exploring, seeing and hearing animals, being unplugged from the world, the crisp fresh air, and even the lack of a shower all weekend.
It makes me appreciate all the more, how blessed we truly are.
Besides, I believe that every Princess should know how to rough it once in a while!
Good times!
