We have some fun field trips planned for the kids this year. We started today with a visit to our local animal clinic!
8AM and waiting patiently.
The doc showed them some of the tools he uses on different animals. This one is used on horse’s teeth.
This tool is called a speculum, used to keep a tortoise’s mouth open.
The kids got to see some interesting X-rays.
Then pictures of different surgeries he’s performed (that’s a dog’s stomach).
This dog had badly decayed teeth. Unfortunately, he had to get most of them pulled out.
An injured horse with open wounds around his eye…
Then the doc actually showed the kids how he stitched him up!
The treatment room where animals are waiting to have surgery.
This dog is scheduled to get some dental work done today.
Thank you, Dr. Fenton!!
The doctor certainly has a way with animals (and kids)!
(He reminded me a little of Steve Irwin and Dr. Doolittle)
He and his staff were so gracious and did a tremendous job of giving the kids an educational and memorable experience!
The staff even gave the kids fun goodie bags as they left!
Word of the Day: Speculum
A speculum is a medical instrument used to widen an opening of the body for further examination.
Did You Know?
The largest animal Dr. Fenton has ever helped is a giraffe.
The smallest is a tiny gecko.
That's our old Vet...funny! great field trip. Love, Rhonda
