Here's me, waiting for the sun to come out. It finally did at 4:00!

Although it was a quick trip, it was just perfect. We stayed overnight at the Marriott Newport Beach Resort and Spa (on our points) and we were very pleased. It was a beautiful property with great service. We even had an unexpected room with an ocean view. What more could you ask for? OK, it might have been nice to be able to lay out by the pool and get a little sun but we were quickly reminded that just because it was the end of July at the beach, it didn't necessarily guarantee a sunny day. It was actually so cold and cloudy for us desert folks that we ended up going back to our room shortly after lunch. In the end, it was a good thing because we took a 2 hour nap!
And I never take naps so it was a nice surprise and treat. I joked by saying that we needed to go on vacation, just so that I could take a nap! From there, we drove a short distance to Laguna to meet Calvin and Christina for dinner. We met at one of my favorite places in Laguna, the Sundried Tomato Cafe. As usual, the meal did not disappoint and we all enjoyed it very much. It was fun catching up with family and seeing the Pageant together. More importantly, it was so nice to spend some quiet time with my man and re-energize.
Grandma came over to watch the girls on her own because at the last minute, Grandpa didn't feel well. Luckily, he's feeling much better today. Grandma and the girls had so much fun together. She even brought over fun craft projects and playdoh for the girls. She did a great job and took such good care of them, all on her own. We are so thankful that she is now in good health and has tons of energy to boot! Thanks so much, Grandma! You're the best!
Glad you guys had a good time! Aren't grandmas the best?!
Greetings from Washington! Even on my vacation I can't stay away from my friends' blogs! So glad you had a great time in Laguna, and glad the girls had fun with Grandma too! Love you - miss you! hai
