It’s probably no secret that I already have strong feelings regarding the excessive media intake in our culture today, especially in regards to the effects it has on our children. I’ll be honest, I think it’s sad to see families living under the same roof, yet everyone is doing their own thing, in their own little world. Even at a restaurant, people can be sitting across from one another but they’re more interested in their phone, than the person they came with.
Unfortunately, whether we want to admit it or not, media has captivated our society and it's taking the place of real, intimate relationships and experiences.
In many homes, it’s almost seen as a rite of passage for young children. Have you noticed that more and more children (under the age of 10) are wanting an iPhone or an iPad? What ever happened to a new bike or an Easy Bake Oven?
Morgan and I watched this documentary last week and although I was already passionate about this issue, I loved seeing what God’s Word had to say about it. It was truly eye opening and I would recommend it to anyone who dares to feel challenged by their own media intake.
