Well, it's Thursday afternoon as I type this and the snow is slowly melting over here. We made it through this crazy, record-breaking snow storm in Texas, y'all. I'm telling you, between COVID last month and this unprecedented #texasfreeze this month, it's certainly been a rough start for us in the Lone Star State.
Can we just have a mild and boring March, please? As I stated in my earlier post, we read somewhere that Texas just makes you stronger. I'd say we're definitely on our way!😉 Despite a few days of rolling power outages, I'm so grateful for a house (it's our rental so it's not ideal by any means) that gave us protection from frigid temperatures, for a gas stove and fireplace, for running hot water, for friends who checked-in on us and prayed for us, for a community of neighbors who are both generous and sacrificial to help those in need, for the four people who I love most that are experiencing this new adventure with me, for plenty of food in the fridge and bottled water, for a warm bed to sleep in, games to play, books to read, and a Savior who loves us so much He provides for our every need.
We were mildly inconvenienced for a few days but many others suffered greatly. Please join me in keeping those folks in prayer. I saw this posted on our community's website by a man named Shawn and I thought it was quite poignant about the Texas spirit.
Pretty much a massive disaster hit TX and OK. Not going to lie, it wasn't easy for a lot of folks. Our infrastructure and government response was not as ready as it should have been. Our power grid had vulnerabilities. However, while fake news will make people believe that Texans were helpless.... this old Texan saw a totally different narrative. I saw people helping one another, I saw generators, fuel, firewood being deployed by residents - not government. I saw people opening homes and businesses as shelters, pets and all. I saw an army of four wheel drive vehicles pulling folks out of ditches, delivering meals, etc.
I could go on.
You know what I didn't see?
Mass Looting.
Criticize and laugh all you want, but never doubt the resolve, generosity, and the preparedness of the Texas people. We will overcome. #Texasstrong

I love your posts. I'm wondering if I can copy and share the Texas Proud statement on this post? I'm fairly new to Texas too but I'm from upstate NY where this kind of weather is pretty normal and the power grid is prepared for it. It's definitely been an adventure and I'm hoping the "powers that be" have learned a little something and will be better prepared in the future. Maybe by God's grace this kind of event won't happen again.
