Wow, November. You came and went and it was one WILD month.
We put our home on the market and it sold in 10 days. Because of that, and our decision to move, I was only able to get through 2 books this month.
The first book was one that I had the girls read and write a paper on. They enjoyed it, found it helpful, and recommended that I read it as well. I think I read the adult version (by his dad, Stephen R. Covey) many years ago.
This book is suitable for adults as well as teens. It contains the same 7 habits as the adult version but it is written with stories regarding situations a teenager might face.
All in all, I think it gave some great resources to be a pro-active member of society while learning how to improve your relationships and leadership skills. A worthwhile read!
Next, I read Boys in the Boat to the girls.
We love true stories like this. Stories that immerse you in the time period and give you a glimpse into the hardships of eras past. Out of the depths of the Great Depression came the astonishing tale of 9 working-class boys from the American West who at the 1936 Olympics showed the world what true grit really meant. The University of Washington's crew team was never expected to defeat the elite Ivy League East Coast teams, but they did. And they went on to shock the world by challenging the German rowing team and hence, Adolf Hitler. If you like true sports stories that have you rooting for the underdog, this is it!
39/50
Although I won't be hitting my goal of reading 50 books this year, it's still way more books than I would have read without a goal so I'm OK with that. I also started listening to podcasts this year so that took up some of my limited time as well. Maybe in another blog post, I'll share my favorite podcasts.
