Beautiful Grandma.
Five out of 7 grandkids.
My adorable niece, Madi.
My handsome men.
This week, we celebrated Grandma's life with a memorial in her honor. God blessed every detail of the service and it ended up being the most beautiful morning.
We spent much of the prior week in the 90's, but the day started off cool, with clouds and rain. Grandma LOVED the rain. Morgan and I had the privilege of sharing the Words of Remembrance. Morgan started by talking a bit more personally about his mom and I got the honor of sharing what her life and legacy means to all of us.
I don't think there was a person there that didn't leave feeling more confident about heaven and inspired by the kind of life Grandma lived.
I think the girls said it best that night as we tucked them into bed.
They said, "Today was a happy day."
They were happy because Grandma was now in heaven with Jesus and with God. They were also happy to meet all of Grandma's church friends. These were ladies that knew the girls because they had prayed for them so many times throughout the years. Now, the girls got to meet them and they were all so wonderful and gracious.
They also said it was sad because Grandma's not here anymore but ultimately, they concluded, it was a happy day. They got it. Their sorrow did not outweigh the truth of the matter.
Death is not the end for those that believe.
Just like Father Lincoln said, "This is only the beginning."
With joyful hope and anticipation, we look forward to seeing Grandma again, only then, there will be no more tears or goodbyes.
Until we see you again, Grandma.
