I wasn’t sure when and if I would share about this but as time goes on, it's becoming a part of our story.
For the past few weeks, we've been taking care of this little Caped Crusader. He spends 3 days a week with us (while my girlfriend, Hailey watches him the other days). He recently became a big brother to tiny Toby. Toby was born 8 weeks premature and has some other challenges ahead of him.
His family needs our prayers. Search Toby's Journey on Facebook to follow and "Like" my friend's community page.
The NICU doctors say that Toby's future may include surgeries, hardships, and uncertainty. Perhaps, but when you know The Great Physician, there is always hope and the promise of brighter and better days ahead.
In order to tangibly help our friends as they cope through this season in their lives, we could have prepared meals, prayed, and helped out in various meaningful ways. However, God asked us to help them in this way. We were in a position to help, so obediently and joyfully, we offered. Did it come easy? I wish I could say it was a natural and easy thing but like anything that requires a bit of selflessness, the decision came after prayer and prompting from the Lord. As it stands now, we have no idea how long it will be before this family is reunited and a new normal begins.
In the meantime, our hearts are growing in love and we are trusting that we are exactly where God wants us to be. I’m also learning to let go of the things I cannot control. And that includes, letting go of my plans in order to embrace the better plan.
And trust me, friends, that is a good thing.
God continues to give our family opportunities to try and live out our faith. We’re finding that following Jesus so often requires an uncomfortable action, a dying to self.
But as a result, we also get to experience the great peace that only comes from knowing and living in the center of God’s will. Truly, there is no greater calling or contentment.
Please join us as we continue to lift Toby and his entire family in our prayers.
