Q. What do you get when you put salt and food coloring on a block of ice?
A. An incredibly fun science project! Or maybe it was an art project? Probably a little of both.
Other than the water I froze overnight in Tupperware containers, you’ll need some salt, food coloring, and droppers.
Start by sprinkling (or pouring) on some salt.
Then use your dropper to squeeze the watercolors onto the ice. The best part, of course!
Slowly, the salt begins to melt the ice and crevices and holes begin to form.
Then, you get this!
And this!
Oh, and lots of this! (smiles and giggles)
Too cool…
for school!
This was my kind of project. I found it on Pinterest. It was simple and I had all the materials we needed.
The girls not only learned something new, they also created a work of art. Fun stuff!
