Cherry Blossom Trees
12 August 2011
Here’s what you’ll need: popcorn & squares of tissue paper (I didn’t have hot pink TP so I used a party napkin instead). What can I say? I wanted the contrast of light pink and hot pink!
Put a dollop of paint (mixed with water) on card stock. Then blow with a straw. This part was a little tricky! The kids may need some help from someone with a little more HOT AIR… a.k.a. mama!
Make a tree trunk with branches. Use a paint brush to help you out with the trunk…
Let the paint dry then dot with glue…
Crumble the squares of tissue paper then stick it on the glue dots.
At first they thought the tree looked “spooky” but after they put some cherry blossoms on it, they said, “Ooh, mama… it’s pretty!”
If you have any popcorn left (after you’ve snacked), stick it to the glue! As you can see here, we had to get more!
We learned that the captivating cherry blossom trees are indigenous to East Asia (Japan, Korea, and China).
When I saw these two finished trees, side by side, it reminded me of my twin daughters.
Much like the cherry blossom trees, our daughters attract lots of attention- they are similar, yet entirely different-
Captivatingly Beautiful, in their own, special way…
