Yesterday, we packed up the ice chest and the minivan and made a day trip to the beach. Del Mar is one of our favorite beaches. The sand seems to be softer than most Southern California beaches and the water temperature is always pleasant in the summer. The waves are also on the smaller side so it makes for a great family beach. Morgan and I thought that we would try and re-introduce the girls to the beach. The first time we took them to the beach was at the end of February when we went to Cabo. Back then, the girls were not even 2 years-old and everything about the beach was kind of scary and new. They didn't much care for the loud waves or the messy sand. Boy, what a difference 5 months makes. The girls quickly got used to the sand and the ocean and before long, they were happily playing in both. They enjoyed sitting in the sand and letting the small waves crash on to them. They kept saying, "Again! Again!"
After a busy week, we contemplated on going after all and although it had been in our plans for a couple of weeks, we didn't actually decide to go for sure until early Saturday morning. Wow, are we so happy that we did. It was one of the best times that we've ever had as a family (so far)! I'm sure the fact that the girls are a little older now had something to do with it. We had so much fun and managed to stay for 4 full hours. It's true... Time flies when you're having fun! We arrived to partly cloudy skies with hazy sunshine so it was actually quite perfect. It was still warm yet not too much sun. With all the adventure, the girls fell fast asleep within the first 5 minutes of the drive home. We made it back in plenty of time to get cleaned up, have dinner, and look through all of the fun pictures from our great day together. Below are 3 short video clips from yesterday. Enjoy!
